“What Is JavaScript and Why Is It So Important?"
JavaScript is a high-level, interpreted programming language that is primarily used to make web pages interactive. It was created in 1995 and has become one of the core technologies of the web, alongside HTML and CSS.
Javascript is essential as it helps in powering the web, bringing websites to life with animations, form validations, interactive maps, sliders etc.Javascript is also used in full-stack development and in massive ecosystems including frameworks such as React,Vue and Angular.
What I Wish I Knew Before Starting Web Development.
1.You don't need to learn everything at once. Get overwhelmed by HTML, CSS, JS, React, Node, Git, etc.Start with the fundamentals-don’t try to become a full- stack developer overnight.
2.Javascript is Your Best Friend (and Worst Enemy) as it powers most of the web-invest time learning it deeply. It also has quirks-like undefined, == vs ===, and scope wierdness
3.Frameworks change, fundamentals Don't .React,Vue, Svelte come and go while HTML, CSS,and vanilla JS are to stay.
4.Responsive Design is Not Optional. Mobile-first isn't a trend ,it's essential.
5.Debugging is a Skill You Develop. Learn to use browser dev tools, console logs, and network inspectors.
Top 4 Free Tools Every Beginner Web Developer Should Use.
1.VS Code (text editor)- A powerful Microsoft code editor, with library of extensions, built-in Git support, intelligent code completion(IntelliSense), and integrated terminal
2.GitHub (version control)- Is a version control system used for hosting and collaborating on repositories. It keeps track of code changes, enables collaboration and supports CI/CD pipelines.
3.Google Fonts (typography)- A free,open-source library of web fonts provided by Google. It offers a huge collection of typefaces that can be easily integrated into websites.
4.Figma (basic design)- A collaborative design tool for UI/UX used by developers to inspect designs, export assets, and collaborate with designers in real-time.
Why Your Website Needs to Work on All Devices
Today's websites must work on phones, tablets, and computers. That’s where responsive design comes in. Using CSS techniques like media queries, you can create layouts that adjust to different screen sizes. Responsive sites are more user-friendly and essential for good SEO. Learning this early will make all your projects feel more modern and polished.
CSS: Making Websites Look Beautiful
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is what gives your website style — color, layout, fonts, spacing, and more. HTML creates the structure, and CSS makes it visually appealing. You can start with simple changes like changing text color or background images, and then move on to layout tools like Flexbox or Grid. A little CSS goes a long way in making your site look professional.
